ASSOCIAÇÃO CULTURAL JARDIM DAS HESPÉRIDES
NIPC 514575581, founded in September of 2017

The “Associação Cultural Jardim das Hespérides” is founded with the following purposes:
 - claim and rescue the ancient spiritual dimension of this land, named Hespérides Garden;

- recover the pre-historical, historical, native or relevant ancient wisdom of the Divine Feminine and the Goddess in Portugal; such as, the Divine Feminine cult, in ancient matriarchal societies based in partnership – Gilania*;

- produce, present and reveal studies and discoveries about the ancient cult of the Divine Feminine in our country (Portugal), to all, national and international people;

- promote both the creation of virtual and physical sites for sharing this knowledge and provide a sacred and ceremonial space for those meetings;

- develop gender awareness and how that affects the social structure, defending and promoting equality, dignity and rights between women and men, specifically through the visualization of a model of the divine Feminine, denied for more than three thousand years;

- overcome the patriarchal thinking model; which is the dominant way of thinking of our society, leaving open space to the creation of a new cultural, political, social, educational and spiritual paradigms; supporting the return to the values of a fairer and ecological peaceful and sustainable “matriarchal / Gilan” society;

- promote, defend and work towards the respect and preservation of Nature, as physical manifestation of the Divine;

- promote, defend and work towards the respect of multiculturalism, as instance the human biodiversity, working with Goddesses from all cultures through time and space;

- recognize Paganism; a religion centered on Nature; as the oldest religious practice of this territory, claiming its status as a religion along others legally recognized;

- recognize and recover ancient sacred places of this territory and the right to use it for religious purposes; as it was in the past, as long as it won´t represent any risk to physical integrity and preservation conditions;

- acknowledge and recover of ancient spiritual instruments, rituals and traditions, which are part of the humanity cultural heritage; and contribute to the practice of a holistic spirituality;

- hold national and international events, that contribute for the accomplishment of the objectives mentioned above.

* "Gilania´s" concept, is presented and explained by the sociologist Riane Eisler in her work "The Chalice and the Sword" as follows:

“As a more precise term than "patriarchy" to describe a social system governed by men through force or threat of force, I propose the term "androcracy." Already with some use, this term arises from the Greek roots "andros", or "hombre", and "kratos" (as in democratic), or "governed". To describe the real alternative to a system based on the graduation of half of humanity above the other, I propose the term "gilania." "Gi" derives from the Greek root "gyne", or "woman". "In" derives from "andros," or "man." The letter "l" between the two has a double meaning. In English, it represents the association (in the English original "linking") of both halves of humanity, rather than, as in "androcracy", its graduation. In Greek, it derives from the verb "lyein" or "lyo", which in turn has a double meaning: "solver" or "solve" (as in "analysis") and "dissolve" or "liberate" (as in "catalysis "). In this sense, the letter "I" represents the resolution of our problems through the liberation of both halves of humanity from the stultifying and distorting rigidity of the functions imposed by the hierarchies of domination inherent in the androcratic systems.”
